Welcome to the Lake George Club Adult Sailing Program.
On behalf of the Lake George Club, the 2020 Waterfront Flag Officers welcomes you to a new and exciting season for our members and friends. Our primary focus is to create a safe, inviting, fun, water-based environment that members and their families will value for years and promote for future generations.
Commodore
Welcome to the Lake George Club Adult Sailing Program.
Our Fleet Captain, Erin Badcock has secured the permits for the sailing regattas, junior sailing program and the various club sponsored swims for the season. She has also hired Dave Dougal as our Professional Race Officer for the Saturday Adult Sailing program that starts on Saturday June 27 at 9:30 am and with continue all summer until August 29th. If anyone is interested in joining the sailing program, we have a couple of J22 sailboats for sale and we would welcome any new members. There is also a special “Sailing Membership” for prospects on the waiting list that is available. Contact myself or any of the fleet officers if interested.
Our Rear Commodore, Kyle Lavoy is in charge of the junior program this year. We are hiring all the Waterfront staff for lifeguards, swim instructors and sailing instructor. We are in need of young adults to help fill these open positions, please contact Tracey if you know of anyone that would be a great fit. Please stop by an introduce yourselves this summer, they are excited to instruct your children and want to also know the parents. The Junior Registration form is being updated to reflect some updated fees and will be on the new website shortly. The form is under the Junior Program tab.
Our Vice Commodore, Rob Fraser is in charge of the waterfront equipment. The 2 Sailboat hoists are scheduled for inspection to be commissioned for the season. Please make sure you have your sailboats inspected before launching and file your inspection tags in the front office. The mooring field will be inspected by divers shortly and we will begin the task of attaching the pickup buoys to the submerged anchor lines. PLEASE do not take any pleasure boats through the mooring field, use the south channel or from the north, the channel along the grotto. These anchor lines only are several feet below the surface and can easily get caught up in your outdrives or worse can damage the mooring lines and cause substantial damage and costs to the club. Also, remind other members or friends to avoid the mooring field, your assistance is appreciated. We are activating one of the working boats for pre-season activities and will adding the additional 5 boats as we get closer to the start of the junior program.
I have also been assisting in updating the new Website with the Sailing (Both Adult and Junior) information. The New Mooring/Storage forms will be online and available to members shortly. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Commissioning dinner. Feel free to contact me at any time about any issues or recommendations for any of the Waterfront programs.
We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.
